Hill Salvador, Edison College, Fears grow over global food supply
3. May 2011 by student.
On September 3, 2010 CNN News reports that Russia is going to undergo a 12 month extension of its grain export ban on Thursday. Russia did so because of the previous riots and injuries caused by the increase in prices of bread. In Maputo 280 people were injured causing police to open fire on demonstrators, after thousands turn out to protest against the increase in bread costs. The 2007-2008 food shortages were considered the most severe in 30 years. This also caused brawls and riots in others countries whom were affected by this as well. The took place in Bangladesh, Mexico, and ect. They have placed this ban on Russia to prevent the occurrences that have happened previously. This will be in effect until December 2011, which will then send prices to a two year high. Russia is the fourth largest wheat exporter in the entire world. This ban forces all importers to seek supplies from Europe and the United States.
Since our economy is already in such a bad state, I can’t imagine was it is like for these people. To have to struggle with the increase in price must be aggravating. I would never think that this could affect society so much that riots and injuries could result due to the increase of prices. I know that I currently struggle with income but with inflation, increase in prices is anticipated. I hope that this does not harm more people when they remove the ban on the exporting of this product. If they were unable to afford it before, how are they going to afford it then when it is twice as expensive? Either way, I do not see how this could help their financial situation. Exporting brings in income.

Hill Salvador, Edison College, Obscure Marriage Laws
3. May 2011 by student.
Obscure Marriage Laws
Last month the New York state legislature approved no-fault divorce; this was the last state to approve it, siding with opponents who viewed the law as antiquated and outdated. As I read on it went to explain some other bizarre rules about marriage that we have in the us and might not even now it.
Montana
Marriage by substitute, which means someone stands in for a bride/groom who can’t be present at his/her wedding, is restricted to members of the U.S. Armed Forces This are the four states that that allow this type of marriages: California, Colorado, Texas and Montana ( Montana is the only one that allows double-proxy weddings.)
Arkansas
Between the time frame of 2007 and 2008, anyone under 18 could get married with parental consent. This is what made it so weird that even babies could get married with their parent’s permission. This law was originally made for teens that were pregnant but they forget to put a minimum age. The law was corrected in April 2008, making the minimum age 17 for boys and 16 for girls.
Delaware
In conjunction with with the basic reasons such as marrying “without the capacity to consent” or “under duress,” couples can now check “because of a jest or dare” when applying to dissolve their nuptials
Kentucky:
any one can divorce and remarry the same person 4 times!
In Truro
, Mississippi, a groom-to-be must Demonstrate his manly” previous he must hunt and kill either six blackbirds or three crows.
A I kept reading on there were so much more laws then just the one listed above , is actually very funny to read some of the laws they have and how they don’t take something so important as marriage seriously. As I kept reading the other laws I kept asking myself that if people really knew what marriage was all about, there was one law that said you could not divorce because the spouse disliked or treated the mother ion law wrongly. I mean really what have come to in 2010. Marriage used to be such an important part in some life’s and now is just a joke; people are getting married because it was a game with somebody or maybe by being drunk. In my opinion instead of doing so many Dum rules like the U.S.A is doing we should established real rules. To prevent the divorces that is happing now. More that 50% of the people who get married divorce in their 1 year. Come on! Are we thinking here or is it just game?
