Zachary Martell (FGCU): Should immigration from Cuba to Florida be illegal?
30. August 2010 by student.
OK from the perspective of an adult who has live in Florida for 19 years, I think the “wet feet, dry feet policy” or so called Cuban Adjustment Act is a joke. Understood that the immigration mainly comes from Mexicans illegally coming to the US from the Mexican Border. But what makes Cubans any better than Mexicans. Sure during the Clinton presidency, the agreement with Castro was that a Cuban were to reach American soil, they would be allowed legally to have a residency in Florida for a year. But since most of the Cubans migrate to Miami, Miami has become well over populated and the idea of competition has put many out on the streets and struggling to get by. In the 1980s there wasSo if you ask from my perspective, a perspective of a Miami, Floridian I do believe that the “wet feet, dry feet policy” should be illegal. If this were to change, then there would most likely be more stability in Miami, Florida.
