William Bertel (Edison) - Undocumented Citizens Are Not Criminals.

Imagine that you are living in Mexico, Cuba, or some other country. You are extremely poor and unable to feed or provide shelter for your family or yourself. In an act of desperation, you cross the border into the United States in hopes of finding a decent paying job so that you don’t have to watch your family starve on the streets. The United States of America is a country that was founded on the policy of immigration. Now it seems that we are turning our back on the very thing that made our country so diverse and great. These illegal aliens just want the same opportunities for them and their families as our ancestors who first came to America hundreds of years ago. The vast majority of them are law abiding, hard working, tax paying people. The problem isn’t the illegal aliens, it’s the flawed system that prevented them from becoming U.S. citizens in a reasonable amount of time. Let us stop focusing our efforts on deporting them and building walls. Let us instead focus our efforts on revamping the extremely outdated and tiring system that forces immigrants to wait for up to 15 years just to become a citizen.
