Sean Wotring - Discrimination

Discrimination has been prevalent, and remains prevalent in many societies. Discrimination occurs because of race and ethnicity. There are other factors that can lead to discrimination but these are the most common. Institutional discrimination has become the most noticeable form of discrimination in the past decade. Institutional discrimination is the unequal treatment of a group that embraces the same customs and institutions of the society.

The discrimination can occur from assumptions about whether or not a job can properly be completed by a person of a minority group. Discrimination can be very subtle and difficult to recognize. Examples of institutional discrimination include no female management, no African American employees, or females receiving less pay then males.

We need to reshape attitudes, behaviors, and lifestyles to ensure that people are receiving equal rights no matter what ethnicity or race they’re. Most discrimination occurs, because of a lack of education. People are under-educated and they learn just what has been passed down from their parents. You aren’t born with discrimination. Therefore, I believe to stop institutional discrimination, and discrimination as a whole I believe we must educate students properly so they understand there’s cultures other than their own. This would eliminate social bias.
