Jonathan Hohn (FGCU) Myspace vs. Facebook: Be sure to positive post.
An ongoing fued that has caused issues throughout America and made prime time news at many points. These sites were used simply for self-expression and communicating issues. It has not only hurt people, caused fueds, but also impacted people lives.
Myspace was origanted prior to Facebook. This source was used amongst many teens. This was a site for the children to go on contact other children, express themselves, and generate a profile for themselves. This was supposed to be a positive place for kids so to speak. It wasn’t long before hacking, online predators, and fake profiling formed. Parents were constantly online trying to hack their child profile due to something that they had heard. Just a year or two ago, a girl was brutally beaten by six other classmates, and trapped in a house amongst these girls and two other males that helped out. Because on online fueding and arguements occuring online these girls taped this beating and posted it on Myspace. All of these people were charged with enprisonment, battery, and assalt. Now do you think this site is as positive as it looked?
Facebook. A site that was originated for college students who were new too school, were the ONLY ones eligible to join this site. Meaning that no one under 18 was able to use this site. Just about a year ago, were people of all ages able to use this site. This site is less expressive when it comes to profiling. All profiles have the same template, the most a person can post is pictures and status. There is also a chat located on this site where you can chat with online members. These people must be your accepted friends! Now, since the site has opened up to all ages, parents, teens, and college have generated a global village for families around the world. It has helped families from around the United States keep contact.
All in all. Both of these sites have the faults. Myspace is no longer as prominant as it was prior to facebook, but has upped its capabilities throughout the years. It too, now, has a chatting applications. I prefer facebook because I feel alot more secure and you choose your network, and who can see your profile. You are able to decline people and hide your profile.
People should be alot more careful of there actions and postings. Nowadays, workplaces have been able to view peoples positings and profiles to see what there potential employees or clients have been doing. Having these profiles can now deteremine your future. Be wise, with your posts.
