Becky Broome (FGCU) Sexual Harassment

At all most every place of employment, sexual harassment is always a big deal. Not necessarily because it has happen in that particular environment but rather to try and prevent it. There is always a presentation as to the consequences of sexual harassment and how to report it. Many people think sexual harassment takes place because men are sexist. I would like to disagree. If you look back at the history of interactions between coworkers, one would see that men have been using different forms of intimidation and degradation in order to gain power in the work place. With that being true men sexually harass women in the work place because it is the most efficient way to intimidate a women. If the man can intimidate both the men and women then he can gain power that he wishes to possess. So men do not sexually harass women because they are sexist but rather because it is in their nature to gain power.
