Smoking cigarettes vs. chewing tobacco

As we all know cigarette smoke is very harmful to the human body. That being said people are turning to chewing tobacco because they think that it is less harmful then smoke.  If  you  thought  that then your 100% wrong. Spitting tobacco when used is placed inside the lower region of the mouth usually between the bottom lip and the lower gum, this is called ‘’dipping’’. It is a moist shredded form of tobacco that is sold in tins. Just like smoking cigarettes ‘’dip’’ effects the cardiovascular system and is known for giving heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure. The consequences for dipping tobacco are very nasty they include; yellowing if the teeth, loss of bone in jaw, tooth abrasion, gum and tooth disease, and gum recession. Some see this as a quick nicotine fix but in reality a quick fix is not worth losing your entire jaw. This is a social problem because most people who start dipping are influenced by their peers. Peer pressure plays a big role when hanging out with your friends. That’s why the ‘’live above the influence’’ ads are making an effort to try and reach out to young people before they get caught up in long lasting addictions.
