aliens by kalliso

Aliens have been a debatable topic since the first known crashing of an UFO in 1947 Roswell, New Mexico.  This crash sparked arguments across the world about life existing other than what we know of on Earth.  My opinion about Aliens is that with a universe that is possibly endless how can it be that we are the only living beings in it.  There are billions of galaxies that we know absolutely nothing about and anything could be going on in them.  People who don’t believe always claim that they need proof and that there is no evidence when in actuality the evidence is all around us.  Ancient civilizations that built extravagant things such as The Pyramids of Giza is a primary example.  It took them over 100 years to build the pyramids, architects today say that it would be extremely hard for us with modern technology to replicate the Pyramids of Giza.  For ancient Egyptians to do it alone with their very ancient tools I find this very hard to believe.  Also the fact that the Pyramids of Giza are lined up perfectly with the 3 stars on the Orion belt size and distance.  Not to mention that the sides of the pyramids are precisely aligned with the four points on the compass.  Each block ways over a two ton, men did not have the knowledge and technology to lift such heavy objects at such a high distance no matter what anyone says.  The precision of the pyramids are impeccable.  There are also many other creations around the world.  Caves with ancient drawings that look very similar to spacemen and spaceships, the evidence really is everywhere.

Many who don’t believe in aliens use religion as an excuse.  They say “God made humans so why would others exist?”  This is a very egotistical statement and extremely close minded.  But in their minds if aliens exist then that challenges everything that they believe in. Now with years and years of rereading the Bible it is said that there verses that refer to aliens.  Some just refuse to accept the fact that it is impossible for us to be the alones in the entire universe just because, they have no real reason as to why they think that extraterrestrials don’t exist except for they don’t want to. When a person truly grasp the concept of how enormous the universe is maybe that’s when they start to realize how it is very unlikely that we are alone.

sarah palin by kalliso

I don’t understand how people still take Sarah Palin seriously.  I am all for a women being president but not one who knows nothing about running a country properly and what the job actually entails.  What baffles me the most is that she still has plenty of supporters.  My view point is not because I am an extreme liberal, it’s because I have common sense.  To me its as clear as day that nothing she does or says makes sense or has true meaning.

Her supporters are what confuse me the most. Many of them were interviewed while waiting for her to sign their books, which she left before signing a little more than half.  Her supporters claimed that she is a women who can be trusted and has great morals.  When asked about her policies they had no idea what they were.  When asked about her take on health care they again drew a blank.  Many of them were however filled with fear of a socialist Obama and that the country will be ruined.  They also said that this is America and only Americans should be helped.  One man went as far as saying “ Winners do not compromise only losers”.  Perhaps I should not be so judgmental towards her supporters about not knowing what her policies are because I am almost convinced that she doesn’t know them either. The absurdity that follows this woman is appalling. Her interview alone with Katie Couric should have been enough evidence as to the air head she truly is.  I was nearly certain that after that debacle people would understand where many others were coming from.  I of course was wrong and still have to hear about her ridiculous idea of running in 2012.

Who ever came up with the quote “ ignorance is bliss” was horribly wrong.  Ignorance can lead to devastating outcomes and I believe this is where most of Sarah Palins supporters come from. Ignorance and hate.

I don’t want you to think that I hate Palin because that is not true.  I find her extremely entertaining.  I just hope for the next election people look into the candidates and learn about their policies and what they really stand for.  Whether it be a Republican or Democrat.  I beg of you learn more.

SHORUQ BADAWI (EDISON) CHILD ABUSE

Many children live through everyday being abused sexually, physically, and emotionally. first lets start with the meaning of Child abuse is the physical or psychological/emotional mistreatment of children. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) define child maltreatment as any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child.

First of all there are the children who are emotionally abused. The question is what is emotional abuse? Emotional abuse is when the child is hurt emotionally causing changes in behavior and low self-esteem. “For example, the parents may use extreme forms of punishment, such as confinement of a child in a dark closet etc…

Emotional abuse, in my opinion, is a terrible type of abuse that a child could go through. Although it may not seem too harsh, it causes many social problems for the child. These social problems include, fear of meeting people, shyness, withdrawing from classmates, and an introverted personality.

Secondly, there is physical abuse. Physical abuse is when the child has “physical injury as a result of punching, beating, kicking, biting, burning, shaking or otherwise harming a child. There is no point in physical abuse for discipline; all it does is make the child more violent and blurs their sense between right and wrong.

Therefore we should find way’s to help these children. according to child abuse council of Santa Clara county.

Every one of us can help stop child abuse

  • Help out a parent under stress with a few hours of child care or assistance with other chores.
  • Lend an ear to a parent or child in crisis.
  • Support programs that offer child care, parent education, family counseling, and child safety.
  • Call a Parental Stress program for resources and support.

If you suspect that a child has been abused:

  • In cases of an immediate emergency, always call 911 for Law Enforcement intervention.
  • Where the situation is not an emergency needing the police, reports should be made to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline in the following areas:

What are the Consequences of Child Abuse?

  • In an abusive environment, children are often expected to behave as if they are much older than they are.
  • Children are often “punished” for behavior they are too young to control.
  • Abusive parents do not know they have to teach the behavior they want the child to have. Punishing unwanted behavior is not enough.
  • Parents and caretakers often abuse children in response to their own anger and unhappiness. It may have no relationship to what the child is doing at the time.
  • Abused children
    • believe that they have no value.
    • believe that they cannot affect the world around them with good behavior.
    • feel angry and/or depressed.

“The Pill” by Jennifer Carwana (FGCU)

Well into the 1960’s society looked at women as passive participants in sexual activities. It was believed that women only went along and consented with sexual activities to make their partners happy. Women were the ones that had to consider that they might get pregnant. In the 1960’s a method became available to women to prevent unwanted pregnancy. This new method was almost 100 percent effective and was also proven safe and convenient. These new oral contraceptives soon became known as “the pill.” With this new discovery women could now declare what was a previously reserved interest in sex. It was now possible to separate the recreational aspect of sex from the act of reproduction.  This not only changed the way a woman could think about sex but how society looked at relations between the two sexes for many years. The traditional outlook of men being the dominant form and women being the submissive form in a relationship was now changing.  These changes are often referred to in history as the Sexual Revolution. The more open respect of sex in popular cultures can also be traced to the same movement. Everything from graphic description of sexual happenings in literature, and movies would have shocked the public. In the late 1940’s attitudes in Western society still looked down upon sex outside of marriage. Also the risk of conception was widely present and was a deterrent for sexual encounters. The contraceptive effectiveness of the pill is generally estimated to run well above 95 percent when used according to directions. Easy use and convenience has led to the pill becoming the foundation for contraception in Western society.  This invention of “the pill” that would prevent pregnancy was the “in” among women everywhere and turned out to be something that would change the course of History! Today reports of the pill being associated with cancer seem to have only had a minor effect on the amount of women that use this form of contraceptive. A survey by the Kinsey Institute led to the projection that 93 million women worldwide were using the pill in 2007; the same survey led to the estimate that 80 percent of U.S. women (in certain demographic groups) had used this contraceptive method at some time in their lives. An impressive number of women take advantage of the fact that sex does not need to involve the chance of becoming pregnant.

Child Sex Slaves by Shajarian Stevens (FGCU)

Im sure by now everybody has heard the story of Shaniya Davis. If you haven’t she was the 5 year old girl found dead on the side of the road in North Carolina because her mother sold her to her ex-boyfriend for money for him to have her as a sex slave. When i heard this story it hit close to me because i have a 6 year old sister and this story hit very close to me. America needs to realize that this is a HUGE ISSUE! According to global march.org over 160 kids in asian countrys are used for sex slaves. So as you can this is not just an issue in America, it’s also known world wide. There needs to be some kind of protection against this. I understand that there are laws when you get caught, but what if you never get caught? What if nobody knows whats going on….What are you supposed to do then? I think that others should pay attention to kids when there in public. You can read alot on a childs face just by starting at them. If we all come together and do a stand about this situation we can put a stop to it. The rational choice is to look closely into other familys out in public, be that NOSEY neighbor if you have too! If you feel that something is going on, REPORT IT!!! Don’t wait until something happens to wish you could have done something because this symblolizez that the parents of those kids dont care about them. By seeing storys like this, it contructs the society to take a stand about this situation. This experinece is a lasting feeling, i want everyone to come together and put i stand to this…I know i am!
