Naturally it would be wiser to examine whether a competitive child by nature is more likely to enjoy a video game when first introduced than a child who is less competitive, before stating causation so definitively. It is not uncommon for people with similar personality traits to be attracted to the same devices. Along the same vein, it is natural for someone who is already mentally unstable to be attracted to video games that fulfill what is already playing in their minds. Just as it is foolish to blame the Republican party for a Republican who decides to take out an abortion doctor, or any other group they belong to. Video games do not cause obesity. Eating too much causes obesity. If video games really were the problem conservatives believe it is there would be a dramatic increase in juvenile crime every year. Instead what the Department of Justice reports is a nearly steady decrease in those rates since around 1997.
