Rational ChoiceThe basic idea of rational choice theory is that patterns of behavior in societies reflect the choices made by individuals as they try to maximize their benefits and minimize their costs. In other words, people make decisions about how they should act by comparing the costs and benefits of different courses of action. As a result, patterns of behavior will develop within the society that results from those choices. How can one truly and right choose? Often an individual may find themselves choosing between life or death, straight or bi. The multitude of mixed messages puts everyone in a position to choose with a bias. The question that needs to be asked is can actions assumptions, and individual preferences

Symbolic Value Rap music, sex, drugs, and making money seem to be the idea of success. These ideals seem to embody the symbolic value of our current society.  Life is more than these things, but the competition to be successful according to magazine and television standards have somewhat corrupted the true essence of values. This change in our culture is evident in the media and is constantly showering us with its presence.  Why have we allowed ourselves to become so demoralized, detached, and cold. I say, blame it on every societal structure because one way or the other has something to do with it.
