Olivia Helman (Edison College) Personality and the Four Temperaments

According to “Sociology in Our Times” the psychoanalytic approach is
Freud’s belief that human behavior and personality originate from
unconscious forces within individuals (110).

The Psychoanalytic approach coincides with the four temperaments which
are elaborated in the book “Spirit Controlled Temperaments” by Tim
LaHaye. Combinations of these four temperaments are used to define the
personalities of people. Knowing one’s own temperament as well as
others’ will give an understanding that will allow relationships to
flourish and grow as well as aid in solving relationship problems and
arguments.

Below is a summary of the four temperaments, sanguine, choleric,
melancholy, and phlegmatic by Gretchen Glaser:

The Sanguine is the popular and talkative “center of attention” at
every party. They are warm, caring, and enjoying—it’s easy for
something to warm their heart and cause an outburst of response. They
may speak before they think, but they are sincere and loving. Never at
a loss for words, this extrovert is everybody’s friend—but she’ll also
be the first to forget you. The Sanguine lives for the moment, and
tends to go with the flow too easily. She also is quickly distracted,
therefore not real reliable. But she’s so lovable that her friends
tend to pass off her weaker tendencies, saying, “That’s just the way
Jenny is.”

The Choleric is the no-nonsense person—practicality is her way of life.
Self-sufficient, active, and hard-working, the Choleric gets it done.
“I’ll do something, right or wrong,” is a phrase that characterizes
her—she gets the job done, whether the results are perfect or not. The
Choleric plans quickly, almost intuitively sizing up what needs to be
done, then follows the plan. You won’t catch her deliberating too long
over details. This dogmatic person is a born leader, very keen, and
capable of responsibility. She will take a stand and stick to it, no
matter what—a good and bad aspect, as she will not be influenced by
what others think, but is also the least sensitive or sympathizing with
others of the four temperaments. You learn to steer clear of Cathy
Choleric if you want a shoulder to cry on—she’ll just diagnose your
problem and give you a solution. But if you understand her
personality, you’ll find her fun to be around and very capable.

The Melancholy is the analytical, systematic person, who labors over
details. An extreme introvert, he is constantly analyzing self, and
others. Though sometimes he can be at the height of happiness, he is
more prone to the dark, gloomy, depressed moods, during which he is
extremely withdrawn. Not given much to large crowds—he usually detests
group gatherings—he doesn’t seek to make new acquaintances. He has a
few friends, to whom he is extremely faithful. Self-sacrifice is a
great pleasure for Melvin Melancholy, and he feels things intensely,
though you wouldn’t always know it. He is the studious, “wizard” type,
and facts roll easily off his tongue. He can hide much away in that
brain of his, and would rather read or study than interact with others.

The Phlegmatic is the easy-going, happy-go-lucky guy. He’s enjoyable
to be around, is always happy and gets lots of pleasure from life, but
he’s quite laid-back and doesn’t get too excited about much. He has a
naturally dry humor, and his wittiness keeps his companions laughing
constantly. He doesn’t get ruffled about much, and is the same
consistent, caring person each time you see him. He tends not to get
too involved in things, and would rather sit back and watch the
action—but when aroused, he is a competent and efficient worker. Fred
Phlegmatic is gracious and kind to all—he loves everybody and they all
love him back.

Knowing one’s and others’ personality types can not only improve
relationships but also improve relationships and success at the
workplace. For knowing one’s temperament also allows one to understand
his or her weaknesses and strengths. With this knowledge one he or she
can strive to be successful in his or her strengths while making it a
goal to improve his or her weaknesses.

The awareness of one’s and others’ temperaments can, therefore, improve
society by improving relationships and improving work performance.

temperament!:

Jennifer Hyppolite (FGCU) Dangerous Technology

Technology is taking over our world right before our eyes and we are allowing it to do so. Many people think technology is so fascinating, because of its capabilities, which it was programmed to do. Technology can also help our lives go smoother, such as a cell phone can save someone by calling the police if someone was robbing them, or a computer with internet can help someone get any information they would like, while sitting comfortably at home. Yes! Technology is a great tool for all mankind, but technology is dangerous in various ways.

I am not the bad girl here, I do not dislike technology. When it comes to technology there is always a good and bad side to them. I am just here to help you realize how technology can be harmful to everyone in our society. Did you ever watch a movie about robots? They were invented to serve humans, but the robots ended up hurting humans and attempted to take over the world. I believe one day technology itself will take over us humans, because we are always creating bigger and better technology everyday. Did it ever occur to us that one day some one will create a monster?

“My laptop is my everything”, “I will die if I don’t have my mp3 with me.” And my favorite, “I can’t live without my cell phone!” Three famous phrases I love hearing when teenagers act like they can not survive without their technical possessions, because you can live without them. These days we are growing up in a society of consumers who always want instead of give. That is not the best case, because we do not realize how technology has affected us for the worst.

Cell phones are great, but there are some dangers to them. Cell phones can not be dangerous if there are just sitting on a table collecting dust, it is the actions we do with them. If we are not careful, because of the cell phone, people wind into phone calls to their death. Anyone can call that person and threaten them to do something dangerous. If they wish not to accomplish their tasks, they kill that person. When we give out our contact numbers, we give that person an access to communicate with us no matter where we may possibly be. Sometimes, a person can get access a person’s contact number without the person actually giving it to them.

Computers can also be dangerous because its capability to learn and to advance . Any technology can be considered as a computer if it is capable of memory and an artificial brain. Calculators, microwaves, and cellular phones all are computer technologies that are used everyday to help us function through our days.  Not only is it here to help us, but it also affects us more than we ever thought it would, like through our reading, writing, and speech.

When we use the computer and spend most of the time gazing at the computer screen reading, playing games, typing and such we tend to make the computer do all the work and never gain any knowledge of our own. When we read an article or paper on the computer, do we gain knowledge? Yes, we do gain knowledge because we are in fact reading, but the difference is that we view the document digitally and virtually. Most of the time we do not even read what we find on the internet, therefore we do not gain much knowledge of the information found.

When it comes to writing, we rather use a computer to type up a paper than paper and pencil. As a teenager, I myself love to go online to go on one of the messaging sites such as MySpace and Facebook to message my friends instead of calling them on my cellular phone. When I write on these websites I tend to write incomplete words such as “lol” for laugh out loud, “ttyl” for talk to you later, and “brb” for be right back, which does not improve our writing skills but decrease them. Some kids actually write essays including many of these incomplete words and phrase.  Therefore kids are using shortcuts when they write, which damages their writing skills for their future references.

Video games and music are two very powerful types of technology; because they can make you do things that you had no intentions of doing. Many people do not realize how dangerous video games are to children. All the violence, sex and wrong doing on the video games influences children to actually try to attempt them too. Music also has that effect because listening to heavy rock music or even Kelly Clarkson’s song Before he Cheats can influence children to act in a violent way. According to the website The Covert Strategies of the False Revival, Churches use music to brain wash people to becoming believers. I believe it’s true because people are able to brain other people practically through any technology.

The internet is the worst out of all technology because it capable of wrong as well. It has to the power to see which sites you like more than others and it’s a tool to be more advance for our use everyday. “The Internet is a brain,” according to Jeff Stibel who is an entrepreneur and brain scientist. I do agree with his statement because the internet is capable of learning our every move when were on the World Wide Web. Any one can go online and become someone completely different as they appear. The internet gives everyone a chance for a new identity giving all the murders, pedophiles, and serial killers access to make their next move.Maybe I’m exaggerating about this whole technology thing being dangerous, but even if I was it is something to take under consideration. A lot of kids who do stupid things are not mentally stable to stay by them selves because their brains are not fully developed so they are easily influenced by their friends and technology. We humans also have to be careful in what kind of technology we create because we wouldn’t want technology taking more control of us than it already has been. Remember technology has the capability to become dangerous.

Jennifer Hyppolite (FGCU) Barack Obama

Barack Obama is a democratic candidate presently running to be our next President of the United States (POTUS). Barack Obama wrote a book called Dreams from My Father: A story of race and inheritance. In his book, he wrote about him becoming a community organizer. Since 1983 Barack Obama decided to become a community organizer in college, but he could never explain exactly what a community organizer really does. In his perspective, he knew there was a need for change in the world and he wanted to make a difference.Barack Obama was and still is a very idealistic man. He wants unity and togetherness among the republicans, democrats, whites, blacks, and other races. He wants to mobilize the poor and give back to the community.  He wants change in the White House, change in the Congress, change in the mood of the cities and countries, and change in the world. He had to take it one step at a time so I guess that becoming a community organizer in college was how he could start his quest for change.Barack Obama got the idea of organizing by the old black and white grainy movies which appears every February during black history month of the civil rights movement. In the movie, Barack Obama was watching the SNCC workers standing on a porch in a Mississippi backwater trying to convince a family of share croppers to register to vote. Children were singing freedom songs with their hands clasped together, while a county jail were holding them captive. Through the movie, the promise of redemption was Barack Obama’s idea of organizing. When it was close to graduation, Barack Obama decided to write to all the black elected officials in the county with a progressive agenda, to the neighborhood councils, the tenant right groups and to every civil rights organization he could think of at the moment. None of the officials, councils, tenant right groups or civil rights organizations decided to respond back. Barack Obama was not discouraged but decided that he should find a job to pay off his student loans and save a little bit of money because Barack Obama knew he would need the money in the future.A consulting house to multinational corporations agreed to hire Mr. Obama as a research assistant. Barack Obama was the only black man in the actual company but the black ladies who were also in the company treated him like a son. When Barack Obama told the black ladies in the company about his ideas of his organizing plans the ladies would smile and say, “That is good, Barack”, and the ladies would also tell him they expected him to take over the company one day but Barack could see through their eyes that they were secretly disappointed about his plans of change.“Organizing? …Why you want to do something like that? … Forget about this organizing business and do something that is going to make you some money … Folks that want to make it, they going to find a way to do it on they own … Do not waste your youth  Mr. Barack.” , advised Ike which was the gruff black security guard in the lobby of the company. Ike was the only person to tell Barack Obama that he was making a mistake with his organizing plans.People tend to try to discourage you if you have hopes and dreams. I remember when I was in school, I was in third grade and I had an idea to review the vocabulary words by playing a game involving the vocabulary words to help my classmates and I study for our test. Instead of telling my teacher about my idea, I told the boy named Dan Merano that was sitting next to me about my idea and he criticized about how stupid my idea was and told me to shut up. I was hurt about what Dan had told me so I went to my teacher Mrs. Becky Brummer and explained the situation.  Mrs. Brummer liked my idea so she decided to have the vocabulary game but Dan could not participate for what he had said to me.Barack Obama is trying to get his point across to the world that we need change and if he ever listened to the people who told him not to do what he wanted to do then he would not be a candidate to run for president today. Never let a person tell you that are wasting your time on your dreams, like Ike said, “Folks that want to make it, they going to find a way to do it on they own.” I think that is the only advice Barack Obama took from Ike and applied it to his life.

Jennifer Hyppolite (FGCU) Health Insurance

Health Insurance – Insurance that compensates the insured for expenses or loss incurred for medical reasons, as though illness or hospitalization. Should every one in America have health insurance? Should the government pay health Insurance for the citizens in the United States? Should the monthly payments be cheaper since the economy went down? Should the poor have free health? What can we really change about health insurance to benefit all American citizens? Many people in the United States do not have health insurance to help them with their medical problems. Meaning every hospital bill or doctor bill, they have to pay for it themselves. People can not afford health insurance because they are expensive, especially since the economy dropped down and life is getting harder to live day by day. I think that the government should pay health insurance for all middle class and lower class citizens, or make health insurance more affordable for the middle class and lower class people. I believe health insurance is beneficial because health insurance helps you with big medical bills that are too much to pay for.A man getting off from work gets in his car to go home. He is a cook but has a low paying job. He makes just enough money to put food on the table for his family to eat but barely enough to pay all his bills. After work that night, he was talking to his wife while driving towards his home. He did not stop for a stop sign and took one terrible turn. Another driver coming from the passenger’s side, driving towards the cook was reaching for an object in the glove compartment while not looking that there was a car in front of him. Crash, went both cars colliding into each other. Both drivers were not dead but were hospitalized. One was a lower class cook and the other a middle class real estate agent but both with no health insurance. The real estate agent ends up with a high medical bill but the cook ends up a high medical bill and has to pay for all the damages of the car crash since he did not stop at the stop sign. The pay checks he gets will take him years before he can pay all the bills.A basketball player having health insurance but is limited with the health insurance company. Her name is Adriana. Adriana is a very skilled basketball player having the position of a small forward. Her parents are low middle class workers but provide small pay for health insurance for Adriana since Adriana is involved in sports. They have a contract with the health insurance that they will pay for all doctor visits, dentist check ups and other minor medical issues but will not cover major surgeries. One day Adriana was playing against a really hard team, which was Adriana’s team rivalry. It was 4th quarter with both teams tied neck and neck. Adriana was playing with only adrenaline and heart. There was fifteen seconds left on the clock and Adriana team needed one shot to win the game. One of Adriana’s teammate had the ball and she passed it to Adriana since she was closer to the basketball hoop. Adriana ran as fast as she could and jumped up to dunk the ball into the basketball hoop. Adriana made the shot and the buzzer went off but what had happen was that Adriana came down from her dunk and fell terribly on her left leg and tore her ACL. When you tear your ACL you have to have surgery and an athlete has to sit out for a year and not play any sports until the leg heals. Adriana had the surgery and started her healing process but the real problem was that her health insurance company did not and will not pay for her surgery bills.  Paying Adriana’s surgery bills was not part of her health insurance contract because her health insurance would cost more if it was part of Adriana’s contract. She had to stop playing basketball for a few years and take a job to pay for her medical bill because her parents were not capable of paying the bill. These stories are proof to show that every one needs health insurance no matter how old the person may be. In my opinion, all middle class, lower class and senior citizens should have free health insurance by the government paying for them. If not, people will not have health insurance when they are supposed to and if they get into a situation who will pay for their bills if they can not pay for their bills and who will take care of all the senior citizens. The government that is who should take care of all middle class, lower class and all senior citizens.

Ashley Rusciano (FGCU) - Texting

Texting is addicting and it’s such a bad habit to get hooked on.  I know, I’m addicted to texting too.  I used to run up the phone bill a couple hundred dollars because I would over text.  I hate talking on the phone especially if I’m doing something.  Ask my friends.. they hate talking to me on the phone.  I think that children start texting because their in school.  It’s the only solution to talk to someone if their out of school and you’re in school without calling them.  There’s no point in calling someone if all you need to do is ask them a simple question.  Now, in New Jersey it’s illegal for someone to text while driving along with talking on the phone.  I agree with this strongly.  Texting or talking on the phone while driving is very hazardous not only does it make the person not pay attention to what their doing it causes major accidents too.  In high school I didn’t text that much because I saw my friends all day but I know that a lot of high school students are texting.  In college I love to text during classes because you might need something or your friends aren’t in that class and you wanna talk to them while you’re bored in class.  Children of younger ages are getting and it should be stopped.  It can get them in a lot of trouble and they really don’t need a phone at such a young age.

Olivia Helman (Edison College) Eating Disorders

Society’s definition of beauty is killing people. According to
statistics more than hundreds of women die from eating disorders ever
year. The main initiator for eating disorders is the media. Eating
disorders have stemmed from the pressure from the media to be thin for
years and are increasing among younger generations. And although
society is aware of the fact that the media is directly linked to the
cause of eating disorders, society continues to purchase magazines and
watch TV shows and movies that emphasize the ideal image as the age for
eating disorders becomes dangerously younger.

The facts below indicate the correlation between the amount of exposure
to the media with teens and even middle school aged students’ low body
image.

One in every three (37%) articles in leading teen girl magazines also
included a focus on appearance, and most of the advertisements (50%)
used an appeal to beauty to sell their products.

In a study on fifth graders, 10 year old girls and boys told
researchers they were dissatisfied with their own bodies after watching
a music video by Britney Spears or a clip from the TV show “Friends”.

One study reports that at age thirteen, 53% of American girls are
“unhappy with their bodies.” This grows to 78% by the time girls reach
seventeen.

http://depts.washington.edu/thmedia/view.cgi?section=bodyimage&page=fastfacts

The personal issue of eating disorders among American teen girls is
linked to the public issue of the pressure from the media to look like
the ideal image which is portrayed by models and actresses in
magazines, TV shows, movies, and adds which is observed by the
statistics below from About.com:Teens.

The average American woman is 5’4″ tall and weighs 140 pounds. The
average American model is 5’11″ tall and weighs 117 pounds.

42% of 1st-3rd grade girls want to be thinner (Collins, 1991).

81% of 10 year olds are afraid of being fat

http://parentingteens.about.com/cs/eatingdisorders/a/eatingdisorder5.htm

Annecollins.com also reveals how “In a study of girls aged 9-15, more
than 50 per cent claimed they exercised to lose weight, nearly 50 per
cent claimed they reduced food intake in order to lose weight, and
approximately 5 per cent claimed to use their parents’ diet pills or
laxatives in order to lose weight.”

http://www.annecollins.com/eating-disorders/statistics.htm

As seen by the statistics, the media plays a major role in the
probability of teens having eating disorders. So if society is aware of
the link between the media and eating disorders among teens along with
the fact that the age of eating disorders caused my the media is
becoming increasingly younger, why does the media continue to influence
young girls and boys with the pressure of being thin? The answer is
that America defines beauty and success as being thin. As celebrities
are faced with the pressure of being thin and as some are even
suffering from eating disorders themselves they’re putting pressure on
others to be thin and suffer from eating disorders. The pressure to
attain the ideal image has become a deadly chain reaction.

Because society defines beauty as being thin it has placed value and
importance on attaining the ideal body image. The value of beauty and
being thin causes society to interact in attempts to attain it. For
example, going to the gym, diet plans, plastic surgery, shopping, etc.
are interactions in society that are lived out in order to become the
ideal image. Once these actions are lived out by society and do not
result in success people will go to great lengths such as starving
themselves or throwing up after every meal to attain beauty. Eating
disorders, therefore, start with the value that is placed on attaining
beauty which is symbolized by being thin in society which is the
definition of socially constructed reality. This means that the link
between beauty and being thin is a reality that society has constructed
out of the value it places on beauty. Society’s socially constructed
reality on beauty being defined by thin is at the core of the ideal
image portrayed through the media which is also the main influence in
eating disorders.

Diane Mahon (Edison) Agression: Internet Style?

Agression is clearly defined by Patricia Wallace as it being any form of behavior directed toward the goal of harming or injuring another living being, and it leaves open an enormous expanse of possibilities by which to do it. People can be whoever they wish to be online, or if they are clearly modest then they will provide their own idenity. But others choose not to. There is a site by the name of “The Dick List”, which provides a source for woman everywhere to write about their mishaps with their ex boyfriends, or one night stands, or bad experiences with someone they known within the area. To bash their name, so to speak. The owner of the site stated, “I get a broad range of woman, from teenagers to divorced housewives, who are finally getting a grip on their anger”. The site actually closed down, because I did try to make a google seach on it. But with sites like that, it is easy for people who normally keep things bottled up or unable to confront the person to express their angery and agression in that manner, by letting their feelings out. Other sources that people use are online blogs, such as this one to express their emotions and let whatever that is bothering them go within the keyboard and onto the computer screen. But many of times you are able to make the entries private for your/their eyes only. But with that being said, people impersonate others online as well, how many times have you come across a site on Myspace or Facebook or any other sites and someone was impersonating a celebrity? There are many out there. I find it in many ways sick that someone has to live a double life by impersonating others. Even so, there are cases of people impersonating appealing everyday people! they simply steal their images off their website and then create a new informational bio or location and go from there. I tried to do research on if it was illegal to do that, and I was unable to find anything which stated that it was. But I believe that it should be, that is someone’s idenity. It’s like impersonating a police officer. One case which I was reviewing was about a woman in Missouri who lead a teenage girl to suicide! Her name is Lori Drew, who impersonated a boy by the name of Josh Evans, she was charged with one count of conspiracy and three counts of accessing protected computers without authorization to obtain information to inflict emotional distress on the girl, Megan Meier, who was only 13. She hung herself at her house in October of 2006 after recieving rude and cruel messages such as “the would would be better off without you” remarks. Another more recent case was the case on Craigslist, all in all these websites are dangerous in so many levels. People are able to retaliate at any given time. In the book I was reading, The Psychology of the Internet, it stated that there was a boy who created a website of his own and spoke out on how he disliked his school and teachers, the school soon tried to take the boy to court on his remarks, but soon was dismissed because of the students free speech. Internet agression, just like in person agression is both harmful, both in two different levels. One, internet agression can lead to idenity impersonation and manipulating someone’s perspectives and emotions to lead to serious allegations, and it could potentially become harmful in a privacy sense. I was watching the new episode of The Simpsons the other night and Moe, the bartendar, was online chatting with a woman, they both gave their real information to each other, but then when they came to to the point where they met, she did not tell him that she was a midget! So not everything is provided out there on the internet when it comes down to communicating with others. You just have to be careful and aware. You may think that you may not be a product of this, but as stated by the text that even if you are harmless there has been research stating that even thought there is no potenial to do any harm, some people feel the need to retaliate on others even if they would not conduct such hostile behavior in person. In many sense, people feel like there is a sheild in front of them when it comes to computers, the sense of not getting caught because it is annoymous. But little do they know, people who are computer literate are able to encode the script of your computer and the address which is assigned to your computer in order to find out who wrote what and who created what. Many of times you also need a email to create anything, that is also a good source of security purposes to indicate if the person is true or an impersonator.

Ashley Rusciano (FGCU) - Technology

Computers are getting crazy.  I have a mac book and when I lived in Jersey I lived with my grandparents and my dad.  One day I went downstairs to hang out with my grandmother and watch wheel of fortune or something and I brought my computer with me.. she was like what do you do on that thing.. I’m like I go on the internet.. she’s like you get internet here?.. I’m like yah (lol).  And I love when my grandparents are like you forgot your camera and I’m like that’s my phone.  Every time I would be on my computer she would say ‘You know you have it so easy, when I worked in the court house my fingers you be cramped because all we had were type writers and we had to press hard not like you have to now, all you have to do is tap the buttons and it works.’  I’m like pssh good thing I live in this generation.  The funniest thing is my Aunt Linda. We’re all at a family party and we’re taking pictures and I take out my camera and my aunt is like ‘I can’t believe how big the screen is, it’s so big’ and when you look at her back-in-the-day kodak camera the screen is the size of a memory chip.  Technology is progressing greatly.  My friend told me that all phones made starting next year are going to have a projector inside the phone.  So whenever you wanna watch something just point your phone at the wall and a 46″ by 46″ screen will appear.  Just think computers came out not too long ago and we’ve come a long way with remarkable new technology.

Juan Gallegos(Edison College) Child Abuse

Millions of American children each year are sexually, emotionally or physically abused or neglected according to the National Clearing House on Child Abuse. When I read this statistic I felt sad. Some people might say “well I am not one of those kids so why should I care”. I strongly believe that it is very good to know about child abuse in case occurs to some little kid close to you.

In the past I have read a series of books called “The Lost Boy” “A Child Called It”, and “Hitting the Road” about a man who was abused by his mother in his childhood. This young man writes about his dramatic stories, how he received help and how he was recovered from his awful childhood. But, how can people recognize when a child is being abused? What are the effects of child abuse?  The main question is if child abuse effects children’s ability to relate other people in the future?

Children who have been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused are most likely to have a limited ability to relate to people in their future. Some studies show that when children are abused physically they are most likely to grow up and fear people or the total opposite and become abusive.

Some of the symptoms of physical abuse are unexpected bruises, black eyes, and broken bones. The effect is that the child is always watchful; a though preparing for something bad to happen. It seems that the victim is always on guard for perpetrators according to the William Gladden Foundation.

On the other hand, sexual abuse includes events in which a caretaker or a parent fondles a child, penetrates, incest, rape, etc. It is also considered sexual abuse if it is exploited thorough pornographic material.  The symptoms of sexual are: difficulty in walking or sitting, demonstrates weird sexual knowledge, and has nightmares and wets bed. The affect of sexual abuse is that the child becomes overly compliant, passive, or withdrawn.

The last type of ill-treatment which is emotional abuse consists of constant criticism, threats, or rejection. It results on cases of attempted suicide, the child is either overly immature or mature, and shows extremes in behavior such as very complaint or demanding behavior. The effect of emotional abuse or neglect is generally depression.

In conclusion, child abuse is a serious problem that is affecting the lives of many American children. We can help a child who we suspect is being abused by first checking for the symptoms. Then we could talk to them; convince them to admit they need help if that is the case. If the occasion calls for it, the police should be informed so they can file charges or put the child in a home where he/she could recover. If we can help one child recovers from abuse that means one more child who will live a happy life the next generation.

Ashley Rusciano (FGCU) - Facebook

I love facebook.  I admit I’m addicted to it.  I love taking those stupid pointless quizzes because they’re fun to me.  I talk to so many people that I wouldn’t usually without facebook.  My grandmother has a facebook!! ahh. but I don’t mind being friends with her because we can connect better on the computer rather than on the phone because I’m either too busy or she’s busy and we don’t have time and plus I hate the phone.  To me it’s only good for texting.  I have friends from all over the world on facebook and I love talking to them.  I have family members on there that I reconnected with and old friends from grammar school and it’s nice to know where everyone is and where they ended up.  I do those notes like it’s my job.  They’re so addicting.  And I play games on facebook too.. I like to be number one of my friends.  I’m very competitive.  I can spend hours on facebook.  Don’t know how but time goes fact while on facebook.  I leave facebook for like a half hour and I come back with like 20 notifications.  Half of them stupid notifications but the other half are comments on walls, comments on pictures.. etc.   I love uploading pictures so family and friends can see.  I love talking to people through facebook.  I love sitting in the same classroom or in the same dorm and talking to my roommates or talking to someone right next to you via facebook chat. If I’m doing homework for a while then I have to take 5 minute breaks and go on facebook.  It’s pretty sad but I can’t help it.  I love reconnecting with everyone and being able to talk to them daily.
