Discrimination against homosexuality and homosexuals, I would consider it just as bad as being a racist. Many people who don’t agree with the lifestyle will say: it’s not natural, its a perversion, it’s against God’s law, and its disgusting. The real reason they don’t agree with it is: Us vs, them, loss of control, ones world view, and fear that they might be homosexual themselves. There is a price to pay literally, the government spends 30 million dollars each year to track down homosexuals and expel them. Which obviously goes against the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. It is sad that in society gays and lesbians are afraid to declare their homosexuality and be themselves. Often times this could result in hate crimes and harassment. The gay and lesbian community have enough obstacles to deal with such as the ongoing gay marriage issue, adopting children, and health-care. Those are a few of the many issues they have to face on a day to day basis. 30% of teen suicides are gay and lesbian. People should not have to be afraid to be themselves. People need to be more open minded and not so ignorant. There is no need for so much hate. Many disagree but if you are gay or lesbian you cannot help it. As of right now there are no studies proving what causes it and though some might think its a mental disorder that is completely false.
