John Colagiovanni (FGCU) Upset over approval of New Andoscians statue.
I am upset over this approval for the New Andoscians statue. I still believe this will cause an out break of statues in the park and also start a small religious battle. I also believe we should hold anther council meeting for it to maybe come to anther conclusion. Is anyone else out there on my side?

I agree. I believe that the approval of the new statue was a very poor choice. It is going to do much more damage to the city then it will do good. I believe that it is just going to start arguing wars with different religions and churches. It would be nice to think that everyone is going to be happy and all will be well but it is going to bring out the “why” and “how come” from the churches. Things such as ‘Why is his statue get to be there I want my there. It is not fair my beliefs are just as important as his.” And you will see a lot of “how come he gets to do that. You won’t let me put mine there. How come he can do it. I want my statue there.”
It was nice of the council to go with the if we are letting one group do it then we need to let ever group do it. But things can not always work that way, and sometimes you need to just say no. The first statue should be changed to that of the founder of the town. Other then that we need to keep all these statues out of the park. The park was put there for the kids not for the churches of the town to place statues.

Look, the choice was either allow the statue or remove the other. The state cannot sponsor a religion, by denying the New Andoscians the ability to place their statue, it would be doing just that. If it gets out of hand, it can be removed, along with the 10 commandments. It is difficult to limit one religion while allowing another; but as the group is not violent or imposing morals on others that would be detrimental to society, it cannot be simply dismissed.
