Terminal (FGCU) Kristina Dwyer
8. March 2009 by student.
I’d like to blame Southwest, but I guess I can’t. So as I sit here wondering who I can blame as I watch the people walk by. Terminals are full of interesting people. Maybe you have found yourself coming back to Florida from Boston, and had your connecting flight delayed by two hours. It sucks. But I guess It allows time to people watch. Sitting here in Orlando, there are many different types of people. Black, white, Hispanic, Mexican, Asian… I get distracted by the janitors. It’s easy to get lost inside your thoughts. You wonder who these people are and where they’ve come from. Who’s the junkie, and who is the school teacher. You wonder if that boy will sit next to you on the flight, and if you have enough quarters for a coffee that you desperately need. You think about weather or not your flight will make it in time for class. You watch as a little girl runs up to you and attemps to pull your hair as you sit there and continue to type your blog. Her parents come and scream at her, for exploring the world. They grab her up in their arms and slap her baby butt as she wails all the way back to her seat. I feel instant hate towards them, what did an innocent kid do that was so bad? She was just wandering… There’s plenty of things out of place here. It’s like a puzzle, can you find whats wrong with this picture? There’s so much wrong with the Orlando airport. The way people stare at one another. The yelling in foreign languages. The looks of despise and astonishment. This has got to be the ultimate people watching spot ever. However, when you take it that step further, and actually look at whats going on, listen to the conversations, it’s quite sad. Not everyone is as happy as they seem. Some have athletes foot, some partied to hard last night, while others can’t shut up about the lines. It’s really something else when you just listen to what’s going on around you for once. You’d be amazed at what you might hear.
