Madison Dickmon (Edison): Lets Change This.
7. March 2009 by student.
Do you ever sit back, take a look around, and say to yourself, ” how did we end up like this?” Not saying that everywhere you look there is something to be disgusted about, because there are many beautiful things left in this world, but they just go unnoticed and taken for granted.
I’ve always seem to come to the consensus that all the problems we’ve created in our world are due to greed and convenience which also leads to hasty and unwise use of knowledge. Now knowledge is an incredible thing, but it does not make us any wiser. Infact, sometimes I wish maybe people didnt value knowledge more than being wise.
I would say it is in most cases true that knowledge is mistaken for wisdom. And when did this begin? Well, when we first began. Since we existed the majority of us have been looking for ways to make things easier for ourselves giving us to much convenience, and this is a big part of our downfall. And depressingly most were and are born greedy. When you put “knowledge” in the hands of these people IT DOES NOT MAKE THEM SMART NOR DOES IT MAKE THEIR IDEAS GOOD ONES. Is this something that is really that hard to understand?
One name that has some of this perspective written all over it is McDonald’s. I quiver at that name, and believe me, there is alot more to feel sick about other than their food. Im sure we all know how unhealthy eating McDonalds can be, but if thats your only reason for not being a McDonalds go’er than be prepared to really feel like vomiting.
While we the American people are trying to help 3rd world countries, we are also using and distroying them by contributing to McDonalds. McDonalds is one of the sole big corporations that keep 3rd world countries from helping themselves. They have bought land in these poor areas and because of this small farmers are kept from growing food for their own people. I guess you could argue that they have business because of this, but the problem is its not creating business for their own countries. About 36 of the worlds poorest countries export food to the US(which is one of the wealthiest). Many people, ie children are starving in these countries while their best farmland is being used to give to us. And look what it is that we are taking from that to give to ourselves. Is it really worth it? I hope you feel great the next time you bite into another one of those painfully acquired grease dripping posionus “crap between to buns” sandwiches as you get fat!
Near the equater there are tropical forests that are beautiful and support more than half of the worlds life forms and give us a sufficient supply of our oxygen. They support about 30,000 plant species and about 1 billion people depend on waterflow from these forests. Well, every year “McGreedy” cuts down and burns more and more rainforests. Because of this happening in places near the equater much of the soil becomes useless for agriculture and just rests as barren land. There are so many, many things wrong with this. McGreedy is trying to use most of this as land for cattle. I found a website with most of this info on it ( of which i have heard the same before from other research) that said it was estimated that atleast one species of animal, insect or plant become extinct every few hours. Have you even thought of the many people who live there and have been forced off the land they have lived on for thousands of years?? We are stealing peoples homes!!! Wake up! And not only that, but these are people that we could probably learn a great deal from. If only we could be ok with being more like them. Many say they may not be that smart or knowledgable because after all this time they dont use the same technology we do. Well maybe the fact is they are alot smarter and wiser than we are, maybe they saw what they would turn into and what they would do to others, much like what we are doing to them now. All this distruction, which in the end will totally come back on ourselves, is a means to an instant gradification, a means to serve our greed and convenience.
McGreedy is also a contributer to torture and slaughter. Most of the animals used spend their entire lives in farm factory conditions with no freedom to move, no fresh air or sunlight, pretty much an artificial environment. Animals being born into becoming nothing more than a McDonalds product. Most of these animals not only live a horrible life but are killed barbarically.. Can’t wait till the day we really start doing this to each other!yay!
I could go on and on about McDonalds, but the funny thing is is that I wasn’t even planning on making this blog about Mcdonalds, it just sorta happen. The point was to show what “great ideas” we have come up with for ourselves because of greed and convenience… Well hey, Mcdonalds was a great idea, huh.
