That is just one of many reasons why I wish to become a teacher; a vocation that I have put off for far to long. I often wonder if I had not allowed "life" to interfere with my early plans, goals, and dreams, what difference, if any, would I have made. The answer is always the same: Just one life. If I could have made a difference in just one life, it would have been worth it.

Courageous first submission. Wonderful job. You will find that the issues challenging society are often most acutely reflected in the public schools. Schools are a wonderful example of a living laboratory.

It may also be an example of fear guiding our policies. We are afraid that our children will learn the "wrong things" and therefore become the "wrong kind of people." Schools are scary.
